Hotels in Valencia: prices, timing and areas
Valencia mixes the beach with culture, so you choose a stay here for two very different plans: the old town of Ciutat Vella and the futuristic City of Arts and Sciences, or the sand of Malvarrosa by the port district. The centre is compact, a walk from one end to the other takes a quarter of an hour, and the metro runs in from the beach and the airport. The price gap between a quiet winter and the beach season is clear, as is the gap between Sunday and Saturday. This list has 2 761 properties, from a hostel bed to five stars in a historic townhouse. Below is what really drives the price of a stay in Valencia: the month, the day of the week and the district.
When to book a stay in Valencia for less
It is cheapest in winter, when the weather does not yet pull people to the beach and rates are at their lowest of the year. Spring and summer are the priciest, in the beach and concert season, and July tends to be the peak. Here, unlike in business cities, the weekend matters: Sunday is the cheapest and Saturday the most expensive, because this is a leisure city. About a month ahead is enough for a regular trip, and you catch the lowest rates by booking around two weeks before arrival, though in high summer it is better to book earlier.
What a stay costs by property type
Valencia has plenty of hostels and a strong budget segment, so a hostel bed and a whole serviced flat are far apart. The cheapest sleep is in hostels and simple hotels outside the very centre, while apartments can cost more than a regular hotel because you rent a whole place. Below are indicative nightly rates.
| Property type | Indicative price per night (from) |
| Hostel bed or hostel room | from approx. EUR 45 |
| Budget hotel (2-3 stars) | from approx. EUR 65 |
| Apartment or aparthotel | from approx. EUR 100 |
| Four-star hotel | from approx. EUR 120 |
| Five-star hotel | from approx. EUR 190 |

Where a stay is cheaper and where it costs more
The most hotels and the most guests are in Ciutat Vella, the old town, with the cathedral, the Mercat Central market and most of the sights within a walk. Trendy Ruzafa in the Eixample district tends to be the cheapest of the popular areas, with cafes and tapas bars. The port district of Poblats Maritims sits by the beach, good for a seaside holiday though further from the sights. The lowest rates citywide are outside the very centre, in the east in Camins al Grau and Quatre Carreres, close to the City of Arts and Sciences. With the metro and a compact centre, a base outside the old town is still convenient.
Which stay in Valencia suits whom
- First time in Valencia. Ciutat Vella, the old town, is the easiest base. From here it is a walk to the cathedral, the Mercat Central and the main squares.
- For families. Hotels and apartments in Quatre Carreres, close to the City of Arts and Sciences with the Oceanogràfic, the largest aquarium in Europe. Handy for a full day with children.
- By the sea. The port district of Poblats Maritims by Malvarrosa beach, with a promenade and seafood restaurants. A tram and the metro run into the centre.
- For couples. Ruzafa with its cafes and tapas bars, or boutique hotels in the old town. In the evening this is where most of the life is.
- With breakfast. Many hotels in the centre include a buffet in the rate, which helps you set off early for sightseeing. Handy with a tight day plan.
- Near the airport. Hotels around Valencia Airport in Manises suit an early flight, and the metro runs into the centre in a quarter of an hour.
